Prayer: For My Extraordinary Child
Lord, You knitted this child together and called the result very good. Thank You for exactly who they are — not a project to fix but a person to love. Give me patience for the slow milestones, words to fight for them when they have none, and joy in the victories other parents overlook. Give their therapists and teachers wisdom and tenderness. Protect my child wherever the world is unkind, and show me the gifts hidden inside the diagnosis. St. Joseph, foster father of a Child who also didn't fit the expected script: guard them, and teach me Nazareth love. Amen.

A prayer for a child with additional needs and the people who care
Pray for a child with special needs by naming the child, the caregivers and the support the family needs today. Ask for patience, dignity, wise medical and educational help, inclusion and moments of joy; prayer can accompany care without replacing therapists, clinicians, teachers or the child's own voice.
The wording on this page is pastoral guidance rather than a promise of healing. Catholic teaching calls the Church to welcome people with disabilities fully, so the page uses respectful language and points families toward community support as well as prayer.
For the parents reading at 3am
Your exhaustion is seen. Your advocacy is holy work. Your child is not broken — and neither are you. The Church's tradition holds that the most "dependent" souls are often the closest to God's heart; St. Joseph, who raised a Child the world misunderstood, is yours. Wed Wednesdays to him.
