How to pray it (on Rosary beads)
- Sign of the Cross, then opening: "You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" (×3)
- On the first bead: Our Father.
- On the second: Hail Mary.
- On the third: The Apostles' Creed.
- On each Our Father bead of the 5 decades: "Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world."
- On each small bead (10×): "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world."
- After 5 decades: "Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world." (×3)
- Closing (optional): "Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible… I trust in You."
Why 3pm?
The Hour of Mercy — the hour Jesus died. Praying the chaplet at 3pm (even silently at a desk) joins the Church's continuous offering at the exact hinge of Good Friday. Can't do 3pm? Jesus' promise never mentioned a clock.
The image and the signature line
Faustina's vision — red and pale rays from Christ's heart, signed "Jesus, I trust in You" — codified modern mercy devotion. The final line works as a complete prayer in a crisis: Jesus, I trust in You.

How to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy
Use a standard five-decade rosary: begin with the optional opening prayers, then pray the Our Father, Hail Mary and Apostles' Creed, followed by the Eternal Father and For the Sake of His Sorrowful Passion prayers for each decade. Finish with the repeated Holy God prayer and leave room for trust rather than treating the Chaplet as a formula that forces an outcome.
